Birmingham Enterprise Community, a social enterprise created to support and create opportunities for student, graduate and emerging entrepreneurs has announced that it is to partner with Alpha Works to help launch a new Birmingham-based accelerator – FORWARD.

Alpha Works, one of Birmingham’s most vibrant collaborative workspaces based in the iconic Grade II listed Alpha Tower, is to become the home of Birmingham Enterprise Community’s FORWARD Accelerator – adding to the most comprehensive package of support available for the next generation of Birmingham entrepreneurs.

FORWARD is a 6 month Accelerator programme aimed at student, graduate and emerging entrepreneur startups who are looking for the support they need to start growing their business. It has been designed by the BEC team to offer the support needed to face the challenges of being a young entrepreneur and help them accelerate their growth. As well as offering a structured programme covering topics essential for growing a startup and workspace provided by Alpha Works, FORWARD offers participants access to a range of mentors, regular coaching, virtual resources, masterclasses and events.

Entrepreneurs on FORWARD will join the rest of the Alpha Works community, working alongside them in the collaborative workspace across the 20th, 21st & 22nd floor of Alpha Tower. The award winning space, designed by ORMS Architects to promote collaboration, productivity and creativity, boast 360 degree views of Birmingham and a variety of spaces to work from. Alpha Works is based in the heart of the city and is home to a wide range of freelancers, entrepreneurs and businesses. It is able to offer its members links to a large network of connections not just within Alpha Works and Alpha Tower but across the whole Birmingham community.

“High above the Birmingham streets, we have found somewhere to call home. Alpha Works is the perfect place for ambitious entrepreneurs and changemakers to take their ideas from paper to reality. We believe wholeheartedly in working together and taking the opportunities that are open to you. In Alpha Works we have found a partner that shares this vision and is ready to help open doors for the young entrepreneurs of this region” said BEC CEO Daniel Evans.

By plugging the programme into the centre of the local ecosystem FORWARD offers a fast track to growth and aims to act as a catalyst to drive more of our regions startups to higher levels of development including an increase in the number of scaleups coming from the Midlands. It aims to provide a comprehensive level of support including roots to access talent, support services and finance opportunities – helping to solve some of the most difficult challenges faced by entrepreneurs. The first cohort will begin in September and will end with a demo day, where participants will have the opportunity to pitch in front of a room of investors in March 2020.

Alex Hough, Community Manager of Alpha Works said “We’re so excited to welcome the next generation of entrepreneurs to come out of Birmingham. Alpha Works is the perfect space to be inspired whilst surrounding yourself with like minded individuals from an array of sectors at different stages of their business development. Our Community is inclusive of all industries and sizes supporting each other through collaboration and innovation making Alpha Works the perfect space to grow, connect and succeed”.
