Join us for the first Maker Monday of the new decade on Monday 27th January, our monthly slice of inspiration from the creative and tech worlds.
As always, we will keep the inspiration flowing, the first drink is on us as is the food.
This month’s special guests are Ben Neal and Sam Underwood. Ben Neal (@psiconlab)
Ben Neal is a freelance Creative Technologist working on arts focussed projects involving VR, AR and 3D games built in Unity. Recent work also includes immersive audio, LEDs, interactive sensors, wearable tech and projects utilising electronics platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
Ben will be focussing on a recent VR collaboration with dancer Kerryn Wise in which performers within a disused building were virtualised using volumetric video. Sam Underwood (@misterunderwood)
Sam is a musical instrument designer. His work in musical instrument design focuses on developing new, predominantly acoustic, musical instruments that seek to free both player and audience from the baggage that can be associated with the playing of traditional instruments. His work has appeared as part of major exhibitions throughout the UK and hisinstruments are played across the world by musicians and composers who have commissioned designs. He also performs live electronic/dance music – mainly using self-built acoustic instruments – and drone, doom metal influenced music on tuba. Sam will be bringing some of his musical contraptions to demonstrate to you. Alongside more established pieces, Sam likes to show his latest work-in-progress, so get ready to catch any bits that ping off!
Places are limited and will go fast and booking is essential.
