March 30, 2020 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Europe/London Timezone

Join us for Maker Monday on Monday 30th March, our monthly slice of inspiration from the creative and tech worlds.
We’ve been monitoring the response to the clear concerns over COVID-19 and have decided to make our event online with a live stream presentation and live Q&A with our speakers. We care about your safety, and the safety of the broader community, and feel it is more important than ever to find new ways to connect and celebrate tech, creativity, conversation and communities.
As always, we will keep the inspiration flowing with some shorter, impactful talks, lots of sharing, content and space for discussion.
If you want to bring your own food and beer along as well, please do.
Liz Johnson (www.lizdilnotjohnson.co.uk)
Liz Johnson is an award-winning British composer based in the Malvern Hills, ‘a major composer deserving wide recognition’ (Divine Art). Her debut album Intricate Web (2017) has received wide critical acclaim, ‘stunning… the music explores a vast canvas…’ (MusicWebInternational). Ranging from innovative large-scale and multi-faceted works to delicate, quirky and often comedic miniatures, Johnson’s music engages the listener whilst being unafraid to tackle difficult issues ‘…she has an extraordinary intuition for knowing what works’ (Jeffrey Skidmore OBE) Zoom-usic? In ‘lock-down’ musicians are looking for ways to be able to play together online. Latency and sound quality are two big problems, but I’m looking for ways to interact musically somehow without any extra tech, using internal mikes. The quote ‘It’s life Jim but not as we know it’ seems relevant. Can we find ways to make sound on Zoom together that are fun, satisfying, interesting? It won’t be Mozart, that’s for sure. We’ll try out a few quick ideas, experiment with some musical games. Be prepared to clap sing hum shake rattle and roll with whatever comes! It will be different.
Unfortunately Deborah Davies is unable to make this event as originally scheduled but we will booking Debbie on for a future meeting. (dddavies.com | @debbiedavies)
