PM Connect has joined forces with Proximus to bring their existing subscription sites to the Belgian giant’s six million mobile customers. It will enable these customers to access PM Connect’s lifestyle and sports content, including subscription sites for sporting giants WWE and NBA.
As well as this, the partnership will see the rollout of PM Connect’s new LiveFootball.tv app, powered by sports data provider Opta, to customers in Belgium. The app provides football fans with premium video and live statistics from the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, France’s Ligue 1 and Belgium’s First Division Jupiler League.
Bert Maetens, carrier billing partner manager at Proximus, commented on what the new partnership will bring to the company:
“This deal with PM Connect significantly expands our product portfolio, bolstering our sports and gaming offering to millions of consumers. With Proximus’ dedication to mobile payment security, we chose PM Connect for its impressive track record of providing secure, streamlined mobile payment and marketing solutions.”
The new partnership follows on from PM Connect’s deal with Africa’s biggest mobile carrier, Vodacom, at the end of 2018, and sees the Birmingham-based business bolster its offering and continue to establish themselves in the international market.
Commenting on what the latest deal means for PM Connect, Chris Purdie, group commercial director, said:
“In addition to wins in emerging global economies, strengthening our presence in the European market is crucial for PM Connect’s growth strategy. Our deal with Proximus marks a key step in establishing ourselves in countries where carrier billing is already widespread – using our solutions to monetise the existing audiences of global brands.
“In competitive Western markets, it’s even more important we stand out. Our expertise in sports apps and subscription sites – driving growth for both brands and carriers – is a real point of difference.”
This is just the first of many exciting announcements from PM Connect this year, with 2019 set to see them sign even more deals with global brands and further expand into new markets. Watch this space – it looks like PM Connect is going global.
